Opposition leaders condemn attack on Osotsi, want PS Omollo to resign

Opposition Leaders Condemn Attack on Godfrey Osotsi, Call for Omollo’s Resignation
Opposition leaders have strongly condemned the recent attack on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, describing it as a serious threat to political freedom and the rule of law.

Speaking on Thursday at Karen Hospital, where the senator is receiving treatment, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka demanded immediate action from authorities and called for the resignation of Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo.

Kalonzo criticized what he termed as delays in apprehending those responsible, warning that the opposition could pursue legal action if investigations fail to yield results.

“There is no reason why those behind this attack have not been arrested. If no action is taken, we will consider private prosecution. PS Omollo must take responsibility,” he said.
Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo described the incident as an attempted murder, urging law enforcement agencies to treat the matter with the seriousness it deserves.

“This is not a minor offence. It is attempted murder, and those involved must be charged accordingly,” Maanzo stated.

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi also weighed in, calling on President William Ruto to ensure accountability within his administration.

“The country must not be allowed to descend into lawlessness. Leadership must take charge,” Amisi said.

Details of the Incident

Senator Osotsi was attacked on April 8 in Kisumu under circumstances that have raised concerns among political leaders. Authorities have since launched investigations into the incident.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is leading the probe, with efforts focused on gathering evidence and identifying those responsible.

Rising Political Concerns

The attack has sparked broader concern among opposition figures, who warn that such incidents could undermine democratic space and political tolerance in the country.
They are now calling for swift investigations and accountability, emphasizing the need to safeguard political leaders and uphold the rule of law.
